Getting Sufficient Cover for Test Drives with Trade Insurance

An important aspect of the motor industry is being able to test drive vehicles,
whether you are repairing or buying to sell on. Motor Trade Insurance offers
you a choice of covers to ensure that your business has sufficient cover at all
times.

Being able to drive a customer’s vehicle whether to see what repairs need
doing, ensuring repairs have been carried out successfully or driving to
ensure that it is a car you want to include in your sales portfolio is an
important aspect of your daily business.

The basic insurance requirements of third party or third party, fire and theft
will not be enough protection should you be involved in an accident while
driving a customer’s vehicle and can result in your business suffering
financially.

A Road risk is the first policy you need to look at. This protects you when you
drive customers vehicles on the road, it can save your business large sums of
money if you are involved in an accident and the vehicle needs extensive
repairs or replacement. The benefit of road risks protection is you are able to
add multiple drivers, so key staff members are also able to be included on the
plan and drive vehicles, which can save you time during the day.

One thing you need to consider when looking at road risks policies is the age,
licenses and no claims bonuses that your staff members hold. You may have
an excellent staff member who has been with you for many years, but if he is
under twenty five years old, has been caught for speeding or DUI or has had
an accident in the past five years on his personal policy; this will affect your
premiums as he will be considered a high risk.

If you are in the car dealership side of the industry, then demonstration
protection needs to be included with your road risks policy. While the road
risks protection covers you for driving client vehicles it does not cover
potential clients who wish to drive vehicles you have for sale to see if that is
the car they want to purchase. Demonstration protection enables potential
purchasers to be able to try before they buy and can be an important part of
your daily business sales.

Taking all the options into account, you need to ensure that any Motor Trade
Insurance you decide on gives you sufficient cover for test drives. This way
you are protecting your business profits and can concentrate on your
business rather than worrying about customer vehicles out on the road
without enough protection.
